MoldFlowThe Mold Filling Analysis examines the flow of plastic through the manifold system and the
part cavity during the injection cycle. Based on objectives set by the mold maker and/or
injection molder, the gate layout will be evaluated to best optimize the process window for
the part and tool. Both processing performance and conditions are simulated during the
filling analysis, which include:
◊ Multiple gating options
◊ Wall stock comparisons
◊ Optimum balance of filling pattern
◊ Uniform pressure distribution
◊ Surface temperature variations
◊ Clamp tonnage predictions
◊ Alternative material comparisons
◊ Weld line and air trap locations
◊ Stress and shear rate predictions
◊ Knit line formation and severity
◊ Balanced Hot Runner System
◊ Sink mark locations and severity
◊ Temperature of plastic though out filling process
We recommend conducting a mold
filling analysis to avoid product delays,
potential molding problems and
unnecessary cost. The filling analysis
allows you to optimize the part design, by achieving;
◊ Reduced fill pressure and clamp tonnage requirements
◊ Improved dimensional stability
◊ Gate locations optimized
◊ Less scrap, more efficient use of materials
◊ Reduced tooling development time
Mold filling analysis is a pre-requisite for additional analysis.
